Van Wardlaw to Chair 2008 Chattanooga Area CFC
Van Wardlaw, TVA’s executive vice president of Power Supply and Fuels, will serve as chair of the 2008 Greater Chattanooga Area Combined Federal Campaign, held annually to give federal employees an opportunity to contribute to charitable, health and human service organizations.
This year’s CFC kickoff will be September 10, with federal agencies completing their campaigns in late October. As chairman, Wardlaw will oversee the 21-county Greater Chattanooga CFC spanning across East Tennessee and parts of Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina.
"Federal employees are very generous givers, of both their time and money, who care deeply about the communities in which they live and work," said Wardlaw. "They know that their gift to CFC is a positive influence that can be felt by others for years to come. And that is reflected in this year’s theme, Imagine."
Wardlaw will be assisted with the campaign by other federal agencies in the Chattanooga area. Federal employees who will work with Wardlaw include Mike Kealey, Campaign Manager, TVA; Mitchell Standifer, Campaign Coordinator; Randy Bowen, U. S. Postal Service; Brenda Joyce Berry, U. S Postal Service-Alabama; Suzanne Wolf, Internal Revenue Service and Paulina Madaris, Congressman Zach Wamp’s Office.
The 2007 Chattanooga Area CFC raised more than $1.4 million for local and national charitable agencies. Between 1987 and 2007, Chattanooga-area CFC gifts have totaled more than $26 million.
Chattanooga area federal employees have been honored several times in recent years for having the highest average gift per person for campaigns raising $1 million to $2 million worldwide.
Funds raised through 242 campaigns conducted nationwide supports 2,557 local, national and international charitable agencies.
